Millennials and technology

Unfortunately I am categorized as a millennial. I was born in the late 80s and so I now share the same generational title as people born in the 2000s. I don't this is a fair comparison, but my mom always taught me life isn't fair.

Ok so millennials and their technology. All I can say is WOW. I will admit I was one of those students that jumped on facebook back in 2004 when it was the new thing and only open to those of us with a .edu email. But now I am amazed by the co-dependent relationship people have created with their devices. I was at a Third Eye Blind concert last night and there was a younger girl in front of me (possibly still in college) who was on her cellphone for the entire concert. She would snapchat what was going on, then go over to facebook and then to twitter. I couldn't help but think Does this girl even want to be here? Then I wondered, how much of our lives are we missing by trying to capture every moment and share it with the world?

Now let me say I am not innocent on this charge, I have been known to record a song or two at a concert, but not every moment of the event. I am old enough to remember a time when our memories were captured by our minds and I still look back fondly on those events. Watching this girl in front of me in constant communication with her virtual world made me wonder,  are we creating snapshots and files where we once were creating cherished memories? I see the value in documenting moments in our history, I mean where would we be without it? But this girl seemed to be missing some of the magic of the moment. Personally I think she was missing the atmosphere and the vibe of the place from behind her screen. It seems to be a growing epidemic where we are spending more time capturing the scene then enjoying the moment. As we turn the corner on a new year I plan to try and be enveloped by the moment and spend less time documenting the scene.

I consider myself a person with myriad interests. I am new to the blogging environment and thought "why not?". If you follow my blog you will not see a clear theme. I will be posting about whatever I deem blog-worthy.  I feel I have something worth saying, just haven't figured it all out yet.
I titled my blog "A Female Perspective" because that is what it is. One female's perspective on all that is life. You may or may not agree with what I post. Again this is ONE female's opinion on things.
I am not the best writer, you may find run on sentences, incomplete sentences and some just general errors. I apologize now, English and grammar were never my strong subjects. Hopefully you will find my posts entertaining and varied in subject matter. I would love for you to join me on my blogging journey.
